How a simple Facebook post led to an amazing response from local businesses, civic groups and individuals.
Juanita Lewis, the Director of St. Francis Diner, took to Facebook recently to lament the lack of food on their shelves. The Diner, open for over 30 years now, serves hot meals to those in the community who might need one. Miss Lewis mentioned how covid has impacted them, and being able to serve the community daily was getting harder.
Well, the community responded, and responded in a big way! Businesses – big and small – schools, civic organizations and more, began planning food drives and collecting donations, leading to an overwhelming response.
Would You Like to Help?
While the diner appreciates all of the recent canned good donations, their storage is minimal, so, if you’re considering helping them out, monetary donations or donations or paper products would be preferable.
