MEET STRUDEL ** PUPDATE: ADOPTED!!

***UPDATE 1/3/23: We’re so excited for our buddy, Strudel!! She was the first pup we featured and Danita had the chance to meet her and play with her. She had been at Acadiana Animal Aid the longest. Over 250 days!!! Yeah, we don’t know why, either, but luckily for her (and for her new brother, Garth(!), she got to break out over the holiday and was able to ring in 2023 with her new humans!! Check out her awesome “Gotcha” story here:

  • Name: Strudel
  • Age: 1 year 8 months
  • Weight: 71 lbs
  • Attributes: dog friendly, couch potato, well-mannered
  • Length of stay: 232 days

Bio:
Strudel was originally a stray puppy that came into our care over a year ago on June 10th, 2021.

Back then, Strudel was just twelve weeks old, covered with road rash scars all over her ears and down her back, believed to be tossed from a moving vehicle. It took only thirteen days for an adopter to scoop her up.

Remember that number. Thirteen days.

Strudel was in a loving home for roughly nine months where she grew into an amazing companion, although sadly her family had some housing changes that brought about her return to the shelter.

Now, as a full-grown one-year-old dog, Strudel has been in our care now for seven months, waiting for a home.

Seven months, when at twelve weeks old it took just thirteen days for someone to adopt her.

We know what you’re thinking, but no. Strudel is a well mannered girl! She’s been in a foster home the last two months and is a massive lap dog who loves snuggling up on the couch.

She’s very friendly and people oriented, but of course can still get nervous in new settings and who could blame her for being a tad bit shy at times?

Small children may scare her but Strudel adores teenagers and adults who have figured out the whole body coordination thing. She is housetrained, good with other dogs, and knows basic commands.

So why the long time period without a home? You tell us. Actually, help us change it!

Meet Zoboomafoo

  • Name: Zoboomafoo
  • Age: 5 years
  • Length of stay: 35 days

Bio:

Check out this handsome guy!!!

Zoboomafoo is a beautiful smokey black cat. He’s 5yrs old and been with us going on a month now. That’s a month too long, if you ask us!

He strongly resembles a black smoke Norwegian forest cat with stunning green eyes.

He was originally purchased from a breeder in his previous life and then ended up with us. Unfortunately, he is also declawed.

He is an extremely sweet cat. He loves catnip (who wouldn’t!?), and is great with others right away. He is known to develop strong attachments to his owners, so if you’re looking for a velcro cat, he’s your guy!

Meet Prince of the Forest

  • Name: Prince of the Forest
  • Age: 7 years
  • Weight: 48.4
  • Attributes: Gentle spirit, all around great dog
  • Length of stay: 22 days

Prince of the Forest is a mouthful, but Prince is really the best name for this good boy! He is an outstanding dog with the sweetest puppy dog eyes you’ll ever see.

Prince loves with his whole entire mind and body and you can just see it in the way that he looks at you.

We dare you to look at him! We guarantee it’ll be hard to look away!!

Prince is about 6 years young and does very well with other dogs. He has great house manners and even knows a few basic commands, including ‘sit pretty’.

He’ll do a lot for a treat and he’ll do even more for your love! He is an all around gentleman.

Truly, Prince of the Forest is the perfect family dog. But don’t take our word for it! Fill out an application NOW to bring this beautiful guy home for the holidays!

MEET MR. SWEET FACE ** PUPDATE: ADOPTED!!

  • Name: Mr. SweetFace
  • Age: 1 year

Bio:

Well, isn’t this just the sweetest face you’ve ever seen??

That’s because this IS Mr. Sweet Face, himself!

Mr. Sweet Face got to bust out of the shelter once upon a time. He got to go out on the town and have his very own photo shoot just so he can show you how good of a boy he is.

He even got to pick out his Halloween costume too!

What do you think of this cowboy?

He is right at 1 year old, and a very well-mannered boy.

Mr. Sweet Face is magnificent with people, good with other dogs and has been known to curl his whole body into any lap that’s available. Yes, he’s got the “if I fits, I sit” mentality.

Mr. Sweet Face is hoping you might consider making him a part of your family!

MEET FURBY

  • Name: Furby
  • Age: 2 years old
  • Length of stay: 84 days

Bio:

Furby has been with us going on three months now. (Three months too long, y’all!)

She’s a great cat and a great candidate for anyone looking for a companion. She’s even done well as the “office cat!” We would love for her to move from a part-time temp to a full time member of your family!

Furby is quirky and fun. She’s super sweet, loves people and loves to give kisses. She’s a sucker for catnip, but is also calm and chill, for the most part.

While she gets along well with dogs, she’s definitely going to do best in a home where she’s the only cat. What can we say? She likes the attention! As she should!

She loves snuggling in bed and is sure to keep you warm during the winter months.

Won’t you consider a new Furby this holiday season?

MEET COBWEB

  • Name: Cobweb
  • Age: 1 year
  • Length of stay: 21 days

Bio:
Cobweb is a gorgeous black, long-haired cat. Can you see why we call him cobweb??

This handsome guy is looking for a new home and maybe a few kitty siblings to grow up with??

We have known cobweb since he was born. This time around, he’s been with us just over 20 days…and as we always say, that’s 20+ days too long!!

Cobweb is a sweet kid, who’s very playful and gets excited when it’s time to play. He can also lounge with the best of ’em. He definitely likes his cat naps on the catio with the sun shining on his face.

MEET WEASEL – PUPDATE: ADOPTED!!!

  • Name: Weasel
  • Age: 5 years
  • Attributes: loyal to one, ladies man
  • Length of stay: 70 days

Bio:
What can we say about this little guy?? Just look at him!

Weasel is a distinguished gentleman looking for a long term commitment. If you’re a lady looking for a life-long companion, Weasel is up for the job!

He would like to take things slow. He is not fond of rushing into things.

Finding someone who is willing to put in the time and earn his trust is key. He has been burned in the past, but with patience, his love is unmeasurable.

Weasel is a true romantic and enjoys lounging around, watching movies, and ending the night with a crisp glass of paw-donay.

If this lover boy is what you have been looking for, then look no further. <3

MEET EVANGELINE MAID

  • Name: Evangeline Maid
  • Age: 3 years old
  • Length of stay: 67 days

Bio:
This is sweet Evangeline Maid. She’s the cutest tabby who lives up to her name – she looks like a loaf when she sits!

Unfortunately , Evangeline Maid has been with us a little over 2 months. She’s definitely ready to be in a loving home. We can guarantee she is ready to be the bread to your peanut butter & jelly!

She’s a really pretty girl with almond eyes and a pink nose. Perfect for boops and nuzzies. She’s loving and affectionate and is also great with other animals. She’d love a new sibling this holiday!

Evangeline Maid wants all pets all the time and is a purr machine. She enjoys playing with toys and might just play fetch if you’re nice!

She’s ready to have a new family to cuddle with this holiday season.

Meet Jakku ** PUPDATE: IN TEMP HOME!!

  • Name: Jakku
  • Age: 3 years old
  • Attributes: Goofy, full of life
  • Length of stay: 56 days

Bio:

Rewind to 3 years ago…

I was just a fluffy, bouncy puppy full of excitement! A family came to my rescue and gave me a home. A home I thought would last forever.

Unfortunately after 2 ½ years came a baby, a new house, and suddenly, I was no longer wanted in the picture.

After 56 days of being back where I started, I am just being patient, hoping my next home will last forever.

I love all my new friends that i have made here, really, they have been so sweet and caring.

But, I long for my own humans. I have so much love to give them. I can just see it now, cuddled up on the sofa watching Greys Anatomy, or even going on hiking adventures!

I have never been hiking, but I hear it is so much fun!!

So if you see them, tell them where I am, and that I am waiting for them. With love- Jakku

MEET ROAD RUNNER:

  • Name: Road Runner
  • Age: 5 years
  • Length of stay: 15 days

This chonky black cat was dropped on our property one day, alone and frightened.

Ever since, she’s been nothing but sweet!!

We don’t know much about this mysterious gal, but she seems to have been kenneled for most of her life.

She is a very healthy 11 pounds, but flaunts her curves with a soft step.

She is currently in foster thriving.

She loves to play and is a chatty Cathy!

Miss Road Runner loves attention and snuggles. She would make a great tv watching companion during your Hallmark Christmas movie binges!!

MEET GARTH ** PUPDATE: ADOPTED!!

***UPDATE 1/3/23: We’re so excited for Garth!! Garth had been at Acadiana Animal Aid twice!! That’s never a good start for a pup, but he stayed patient. Luckily for him (and his new sister, Strudel(!), they got to break out over the holiday and was able to ring in 2023 with her new humans!! Check out her awesome “Gotcha” story here:

  • Age: 1 year
  • Attributes: Down to earth, lover boy, a friend to all
  • Length of stay: 75 days

Bio:

Sweetest Garth…

He came to us in March of 2022, a very malnourished pup. To say he had a rough start is an understatement.

We nearly lost him and his sibling to parvo!

Garth is a fighter, though, and had a big come back!

He got stronger, gained weight, and found himself in a home of his very own.

Unfortunately, Garth’s luck ran out and was returned to us, through no fault of his own.

These days, you’ll find Garth lounging in his foster home, hoping that his bad luck will soon be over.

He is hoping to find someone to have FUN with!

Whether it may be long walks, cuddling on the sofa, hanging out with other cats and dogs, he is down for it all!

Garth, like all the others, simply wants to be wanted.

MEET SKINNY FOAM LATTE

  • Name: Skinny Foam Latte
  • Age: 1 year
  • Length of stay: 66 days

This gorgeous girl has been with us going on two months now. And you know that is two months too long!

She’s a tabby/calico mix who’s a very laid back cat.

Skinny Foam Latte is also great with kids. She lets them carry her all over.

She usually keeps to herself and that might be why she is getting looked over.

She does enjoy attention and she loves getting all the pets. She would probably be so happy and have more personality in a new home for the holidays. She really is a sweet cat!
