On Monday (December 30), Morgan Wallen released a surprise single titled “Smile.” The new track continues a lyrical and emotional theme featured in the country superstar’s previous 2024 releases, “Lies Lies Lies” and “Love Somebody.” Wallen also released a Justin Clough-directed music video for “Smile,” which features the singer portraying himself getting ready to perform at a late-night talk show set on New Year’s Eve. Instead of singing “Love Somebody” as planned, Wallen goes off-script and performs “Smile,” leading to a ratings spike for the program. Wallen wrote “Smile” along with the songwriting team of Rocky Block, John Byron, Ernest Keith Smith, Ryan Vojtesak, and Luis Witkiewitz. Wallen is fresh off being named Entertainer of the Year at the 2024 CMA Awards, and is set to host his star-studded inaugural Sand in My Boots Festival that will take place in Gulf Shores, Alabama from May 16-18.
